Tom Morello fused Metal with Hip-Hop and formed RATM!
Tom Morello once said: “When I write the riffs on my acoustic I can hear what it’s gonna sound like with the band in a festival with 60.000 people jumping up and down.”
Judging by the behavior of the Rage crowd he knows what he’s talking about.
RATM released their self titled debut album in 1992, ‘Evil Empire’ in 1996 and ‘The Battle of Los Angeles’ in 1999. At this point they were one of the biggest bands in the world.
In 2000, shortly after breaking up, the band released their fourth studio album Renegades, which is comprised entirely of cover songs.
Zack de la Rocha started a low-key solo career; the rest of the band formed the rock supergroup ‘Audioslave’ with former ‘Soundgarden’ front man Chris Cornell, which disbanded in 2007.
In April 2007, Rage Against the Machine reformed, in 2009 they bagged the Xmas #1 in the UK!
